ABC will not be producing a fifth season for its primetime drama series Revenge, putting Emily Thorpe's quest for vengeance against the people who wronged her to an end.

Speaking exclusively to Entertainment Weekly, the show's executive producer Sunil Nayar said Emily, played by actress Emily VanCamp, has reached the closure in her search for revenge against Victoria Grayson, played by Madeleine Stowe, who was nominated for an Outstanding Lead Actress award at the Golden Globe Awards for her phenomenal portrayal of Emily's father's former lover.

"We can officially tell our fans that this will be the end of the story," said Nayar. "We've been talking to the network and we all just wanted to make sure that we felt very confident. Now that everybody has seen the finale—which is fabulous—everybody understands that as much as we all adore the show, it has hit exactly the mark it needed to end."

Revenge debuted to 10 million viewers in 2010, with Nielsen giving it a respectable rating of 3.3 in the 18 to 49 age bracket. The show regularly bested out ratings for the same Wednesday primetime slot by other television networks, including CBS, Fox, The CW, and NBC. However, when the show was moved to Sundays, Revenge saw a ratings decline to 1.0 and audience numbers dropping to 4.5 million.

Along with any economic reasons ABC might have, fans of the suspense-filled soap series have had an inkling of the show's nearing end, when Victoria, Emily's archnemesis, killed herself with a lighter, taking the entire grand Grayson manor along with her and, of course, not without framing Emily, also known as Amanda Clarke, as her murderer.

"We certainly had a pitch of how the show could go on, but this is why I feel so grateful to the studio and the network because they also erred on the side of creativity," said Nayar. "The show is still popular, it's loved worldwide. I can see why all the arguments from even an economic standpoint to maybe keep it going, but at the end of the day—kind of like they had with 'Lost'—they support creativity above all."

Revenge has gained acclaim as a campy soap opera so extreme that it becomes sophisticated. If, after four seasons, you haven't had enough of the camp, here's a look back at some of the show's best moments from seasons 1 through 3, from Emily and Daniel's planned "chance meeting" and the adorable moments the husband and wife shared with each other before turning into worst enemies during the first season, to pregnant Amanda falling over the banister and Jack and Amanda's wedding in the second season, and to Emily's double-sided wedding vows and Daniel shooting her right after in the third season.

And here are a couple of bonus clips as well, to relive that WTF moment when Victoria blows herself up, and that moment that could have been the perfect ending for the show, as Emily walks out of Victoria's psychiatric ward, satisfied with her revenge.
