Best Buy is currently offering a trade-in promotion for Samsung's current flagship smartphones, the Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 Edge.

Customers can trade in their working smartphones to get a gift card worth up to $200, which they can then use to purchase the Galaxy S6 or Galaxy S6 Edge.

Buyers can also receive a gift card that is guaranteed to have a minimum value of $100 if they trade in a fully operational Galaxy S4, one of Samsung's previous flagship smartphones, and if they use the gift card to purchase either a Galaxy S6 or Galaxy S6 Edge.

The trade-in promotion of the Galaxy S4 for the Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 Edge, however, is only valid until May 9, which means that customers looking to take advantage of the offer have less than a week to do so.

Smartphones that are set to be traded in will undergo inspections to determine their trade-in value, so the promotion is only an in-store one. Interested customers will have to visit the nearest Best Buy store. The trade-in promotion may not be available in all Best Buy locations, however, with some retail stores possibly also having additional limitations.

The fine print of the promotion states that in the case of taxes and surcharges at the time of the purchase of the Galaxy S6 or Galaxy S6 Edge, the additional fees will be applied to the price of the smartphone before applying the credit from gift cards.

Best Buy also states that not all smartphones are eligible to be traded in for the promotion, and that the trade-in price of eligible smartphones may vary. Smartphones that have cracks on their screens or bodies are not eligible to be traded in; the same goes for devices that are no longer powering on.

The Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 Edge smartphones ship with Android 5.0 Lollipop installed, with reports stating that the devices will soon also be receiving over-the-air updates to upgrade their operating systems to Android 5.1 Lollipop. There is no specific timeframe for the rollout of Android 5.1 Lollipop, however, which will add several features to the smartphones such as Guest Mode, a device protection feature and improved HD calling.
