At different points during the past couple of seasons, Richard Sherman, Patrick Peterson, Darrelle Revis and Joe Haden all said they were the best cornerback in the NFL. (Come on, it's Revis Island all the way!) Even Dee Milliner said he was the best... which was a joke.

Now, here comes another boast — Mike Wallace says he's the fastest man in the NFL and the Minnesota Vikings wide receiver is willing to prove it.

"Without a doubt, I'm the fastest player in the NFL," Wallace told the Pioneer Press on Tuesday. "If somebody feels foggy about that, we can [race]. I'm never going to back down from competition.''

We have a worthy opponent — Arizona Cardinals rookie wide receiver J.J. Nelson, who was selected in the fifth round of this 2015 NFL Draft, posted a sizzling 4.28 in the 40-yard dash at this year's combine.

Can you keep up with him, Mike? Back in 2008, running back Chris Johnson also ran a 4.24 40. Wallace's 40-yard time at the 2009 combine was a 4.33 — but he insists that his personal best-ever clock-in was 4.21 seconds.

"I've run a lot of routes and I've got a lot of miles on my legs, but I still feel that there's nobody who can run with me,'' Wallace continued telling the newspaper. "I might have slowed down a little, but I could still run 4.25.''

Hmm... let's put up some cash for charity and have Wallace and Nelson race. Why not? It would be fun to watch.
