Owners of the Samsung Galaxy Tab S 10.5 through AT&T will now be receiving an over-the-air update to upgrade the operating system of their tablet to Android 5.0.2 Lollipop.

Galaxy Tab S 10.5 owners had to wait for a significant amount of time though, as the Android 5.0.2 Lollipop update for the unlocked versions of the tablet was released back in March.

Similar to other Android Lollipop updates, AT&T will be releasing the over-the-air package in stages. As such, users will have to wait a bit more to finally receive the update in their tablets, ranging from a wait of a few days to perhaps as long as a couple of weeks.

Users that are preparing to have their Galaxy Tab S 10.5 devices for the Android 5.0.2 Lollipop update should bear a few things in mind. First, users should make sure that their tablets are on a stable Internet connection to make sure that the download does not experience interruptions. Next, users should prepare their devices to have at least 1.1GB worth of free space available.

Once the Galaxy Tab S 10.5 has received the Android 5.0.2 Lollipop update, users will receive a notification that states that the update is ready to be installed. Another way for users to check if the update is available is to access the Settings menu of the tablet. Users can then select General, and then the About Device option, and then tap on Software Update. Accessing this option will allow users to more frequently check if the update is available for their device, but it will only show up there if AT&T has rolled out the update to the user's area.

With the Android 5.0.2 Lollipop update, Galaxy Tab S 10.5 users will be able to see the new material design interface that Google used for the latest version of its mobile operating system, along with improvements in notifications and battery life. The update will also make adjustments to the performance of the device for a better overall user experience.

The update also adds the Device Protection feature to the device, which is a new security feature that will lock the tablet if it gets lost or stolen. To unlock the device, the Google account credentials of the tablet's real owner will first have to be entered.
