More international regions have been confirmed for the release of the Android 5.0 Lollipop update to the Galaxy Note 2. Samsung Morocco and Samsung Portugal have stated the device will receive the update in their regions.

The saga of the Android 5.0 Lollipop update for the Galaxy Note 2 continues, as it has become clear that the device will be receiving the update in some regions, while in others, it will not.

For months, speculation on the Internet surrounding the release of the official Android 5.0 Lollipop update for the Galaxy Note 2 centered on whether or not the device would not receive an update. Many feared the age of the handset would preclude an update to Lollipop, while others expected that as one of Samsung's former flagship phablets, the device should indeed be getting an upgrade.

Several international regional arms of Samsung confirmed the Android 5.0 Lollipop update in Poland and the Nordic region of Europe. That wasn't enough evidence for some users, who noted that various international arms of the company had released erroneous information in the past.

Recently, however, it became clear that some territories would in fact be releasing the Android 5.0 Lollipop update for the device while others won't. Samsung Denmark, along with one UK carrier, confirmed the update, while Samsung Gulf, which services various Middle Eastern territories, definitively announced the Note 2 would not be receiving an Android 5.0 Lollipop update in their area.

So, the bottom line for the Note 2 is that the Android 5.0 Lollipop update will be released on a case-by-case basis depending on region. Now, more regions have confirmed the release of the update for the handset in their territories. Both Samsung Portugal and Samsung Morocco recently answered inquiries as to whether the Note 2 would be receiving the update in those countries in the affirmative. The Portuguese arm of the company stated that the update is currently being finalized, while the Moroccan arm gave no time frame for its release.

We will continue to report on the availability of the update in all regions as the details are announced.
