Star Wars: Rogue One, the first non-episodic, "anthology" film in that galaxy far, far away, is rounding up a very interesting cast.

Director Gareth Edwards already has Oscar-nominated actress Felicity Jones as one of his leads, and Ben Mendelsohn is attached as a villain. Riz Ahmed is believed to be the third lead.

Variety is now reporting that actor Diego Luna has been cast as the movie's next lead, a major character who will be part of an expected Dirty Dozen-type ensemble of Rebel fighters. Luna is best known for his small part in Elysium, but in recent years has seen success as an indie director on movies such as Cesar Chavez.

Rogue One tells the story of the theft of the infamous Death Star plans from the very first Star Wars film. It's a "serious war movie" that follows a group of Rebel fighters who band together to fight their way to acquire those blueprints. Jones, Ahmed and Luna all play Rebel soldiers; Mendelsohn is believed to play the movie's main villain, no doubt some kind of Imperial officer or troop commander.

Star Wars: Rogue One arrives on December 16, 2016.
