It was only a few months ago that all of WWE 2K15's DLC content arrived, and there's already talk of this year's WWE 2K16.

Few details about the game are known and nothing is official yet — but a recent interview given by Jerry "The King" Lawler has provided us with our first indication of what to expect later this year.

Lawler revealed to Memphis Cerrito Live Radio Show (via What Culture) that he and Jim Ross have already been recording voice-overs for WWE 2K16, and that the game will – at least in part – focus on the "attitude era."

"We're already working on that," Lawler told the radio show. "A lot of people ask about my old broadcast partner. They're having in this year's game, a big Stone Cold Steve Austin Attitude Era section and they have me and J.R. back together again in the studio doing voice-overs for that."

It's not a whole lot to go on by any means, but it sounds like WWE 2K16 will feature a story mode revolving around Steve Austin, similar to the showcase modes in WWE 2K15 that highlighted the rivalries between John Cena vs. CM Punk and Triple H vs.Shawn Michaels. If the game is indeed following WWE 2K15's example, we can expect another story mode focused on another WWE superstar as well.

WWE 2K15 served as a solid entry in the wrestling franchise, as the series made the leap to the Xbox One and PlayStation 4 for the first time. That said, the game did lack a number of features fans of the series had come to expect. Here's hoping WWE 2K16 can improve upon the groundwork laid out last year. Expect more WWE 2K16 news soon.
