Released in November of last year, players have had a good six months to cause all manner of mischief in the virtual Paris of Assassin's Creed Unity. Ubisoft has released some of those stats for the first time, but rather than dumping a pile of huge numbers over our heads, the game publisher has instead decided to give gamers a bit of a history lesson at the same time.

For example, players have collectively spent more than 16,000 years playing the game, which just so happens to be rough age of the clay bison found nestled in a cave among the French Pyrenees. Video games and a little art history go splendid together, don't they?

If you like your stats a little more violent, try these numbers. Players have killed more than 8 billion NPC characters in the game, and have assassinated more than 4 billion. If you wanted to bury those 8 billion dead, it would take a graveyard the size of Belgium to fit all the tombstones. And those 4 billion assassinations? To put it in perspective, 4 billion is roughly 85 times the number of Europeans who were killed by the black death in the 14th century.

There are other statistics as well, such as the most popular weapons and the missions players most often embarked on. Missing from the statistics is how many players lost their faces due to Unity's numerous glitches. You can check out the full-length infographic at the bottom of this post.

This year's Assassin's Creed Syndicate will take players to Victorian era London and will introduce a number of new features. Despite these large numbers, Assassin's Creed Unity left plenty to be desired. Let's hope Syndicate can rise to the occasion.

Assassin's Creed Syndicate is coming to Xbox One, PlayStation 4 and PC on October 23, 2015.
