Asus has recently unveiled a number of premium ZenPad tablets: the ZenPad 7, ZenPad 8, ZenPad S 8 and the ZenPad 10.1 at the Computex 2015.

Here are the quick specs comparisons of the latest 8-inch ZenPad tablets.

Screen

The ZenPad 8 has an 8-inch screen with 1280 x 800 HD IPS LCD. The ZenPad S 8 also has an 8-inch screen but it has a better display resolution of 2048 x 1536. The ZenPad S 8 has a 178 degrees viewing angle.

Processor

The ZenPad 8 is powered by an Intel Atom x3-C3200 quad-core processor clocked at 1.2GHz. However, a powerful 2.3 GHz quad-core 64-bit Intel Atom 3580 processor powers the ZenPad S 8.

In comparison to the ZenPad 8, the ZenPad S 8 is more powerful and may be preferred by customers who are looking at fast performance and multitasking.

RAM and Storage

The ZenPad S is available in 1GB/2GB RAM options, while the ZenPad S 8 comes with 4GB RAM. Asus claims that the ZenPad S 8 is the first 8-inch tablet that has 4GB RAM.

Asus is offering the ZenPad 8 with 16/32GB internal memory. On the other hand, the ZenPad S 8 is available in 16/32/64GB internal storage versions.

Both the Asus tablets have the option to expand the memory with a microSD card.

Operating System

The ZenPad 8 as well as the ZenPad S 8 comes running on Android 5.0 Lollipop with Zen user interface (UI).

Camera

The ZenPad 8 is equipped with a 5MP primary camera and 2MP front-facing camera. However, the ZenPad S 8 sports a better 8MP rear-facing camera and a 5MP front-facing camera.

Form Factor

The ZenPad 8 measures 8.22 x 4.84 x 0.33 inch (209 x 123 x 8.5mm), which is slightly thicker than the ZenPad S 8 that measures 8.00 x 5.29 x 0.26 inch (203.2 x 134.5 x 6.68mm). The ZenPad S 8 weighs 10.54 ounces, or 299 grams. The weight of the ZenPas 8 is not known.

Battery

Both of the latest Asus tablets include a 4,000 mAh battery. Experts believe that including the same battery for both the tablets is not justifiable as the ZenPad S 8 has a better display resolution that consumes more power.   

Connectivity

Both the ZenPad 8 and the ZenPad S 8 have Bluetooth 4.0 and GPS. The ZenPad S will be available with LTE/Wi-Fi connectivity and phone functionality or as a Wi-Fi-only model. The ZenPad S 8 will be available in Wi-Fi only model.

Accessories

Asus announced that the ZenPad 8 is the first tablet in the world that features an innovative interchangeable cover design, which lets users to easily customize the tablet with a functional back cover.

"These can provide extra features and additional color options, while perfectly matching ZenPad 8.0's looks. Zen Clutch is a fashion-forward accessory that combines elegant style with premium materials to provide a sophisticated carrying and protection solution for ZenPad 8.0," per Asus.

Customers can also but Zen Case for the ZenPad 8 that is available in five vivid colors. The case also features a leather texture. Another accessory for the ZenPad 8 is the Audio Cover that brings immersive 5.1-channel surround sound to the tablet for the first time.

With the Power Case for ZenPad 8, users can extend the battery life of the tablet for an additional 5 hours.

While many optional accessories are available for the ZenPad 8, there is only the Z Stylus announced for the ZenPad S 8. The stylus is designed specifically for the ZenPad S 8 offer great drawing and writing experience to the users. The stylus has design work. It supports up to 1024 levels of pressure sensitivity and up to a 1.2mm writing tip.

Asus may launch more accessories for the ZenPad S 8 in the future.

Price and Availability

Asus has not revealed the price and expected availability of the both the 8-inch tablets.
