T-Mobile has finally upgraded the operating system of the LG G3 smartphone to Android 5.0 Lollipop.

Users of the previous LG flagship smartphone under the carrier have been understandably complaining about the length of time that it has taken for the T-Mobile G3 to be upgraded to Android 5.0 Lollipop, which Google released in October of last year.

An operating system upgrade that would have taken the T-Mobile G3 to Android 5.0 Lollipop was released back in early April. Early on, the upgrade was not an over-the-air update though, as many smartphone users have grown accustomed to. Users would have needed to use the LG Mobile Support Tool to download and install the update to their smartphones, with the update sporting the build number D85120b.

However, just as T-Mobile was pushing out the mobile operating system update, the carrier pulled out update without specifying the reason behind the decision.

Now, T-Mobile has started pushing out build number D85120e, which should be the software update that will finally take T-Mobile G3 devices to Android 5.0 Lollipop. The support page for the said smartphone now also reflects the latest update

The LG G3 Android Lollipop update brings Wi-Fi calling 2.0, turns on VoLTE, and improves software stability.

Des Smith, senior product manager of T-Mobile, confirmed the update and its build number through Twitter, along with the launch time of the Android 5.0 Lollipop upgrade of 12:01 a.m. Pacific Time on June 10.

Users that were able to install the earlier released Android 5.0 Lollipop update and those that did not will receive T-Mobile's second attempt at the upgrade. The update will also likely be rolled out in batches and not to all T-Mobile G3 owners at once, so some users will have to exercise just a bit more patience before they get their smartphones onto the latest mobile operating system of Google.

Hopefully T-Mobile G3 owners will not experience the widespread performance issues that other G3 owners are having upon upgrading to Android 5.0 Lollipop. The issues include the quick draining of the smartphone's battery, slow charging times and Wi-Fi connection issues, among others.

Doing a factory reset for the device was suggested as an option to solve the issues, but in addition to having to back up all the data in the device to avoid losing them permanently, the proposed solution was not an effective one in all cases.

There have been reports of G3 smartphones working fine with the Android 5.0 Lollipop update though.
