Hulu, the on-demand Internet video streaming service has launched Hulu Plus Remote Control, which allows users to stream content to gaming consoles such Xbox One, PlayStation 3 (PS3) and PlayStation 4 (PS4).  The new feature is very similar to the support Hulu provides to Google Chromecast.

The latest Remote Control feature will let customers convert their mobile devices such as smartphones and tablets to manage the company's Hulu Plus app on top gaming consoles.

Hulu says that the new function is very simple and straight forward to use. Once the Hulu Plus app is launched on a customer's Android or iOS device, the app will automatically detect the available gaming console. Customers will be able to find a cast button on the screen of the mobile device and the user can then pair both the devices.

A user can keep streaming a video and at the same time search for another one and cast it immediately on the TV.

Users will also get a lot of control functions from the app such as pause/resume, 10-seconds rewind and more. If customers want a short break from their living room but do not want to miss the action then they also have the option to cast video on their mobile device.

Currently, the new Hulu function can be used only via select gaming consoles. However, the company indicated that it is working towards getting the remote control function to other living room devices in the near term.

"The Hulu Seattle and Santa Monica teams are always creating new connected experiences so that you, our subscribers, can have more great ways to enjoy Hulu Plus in the living room. We launched the remote control functionality with the goal of finding and consuming your favorite content easier than ever. And this is only the beginning - we will continue to add remote control functionality to more living room devices over the coming months," per the Hulu blog.

Hulu's Remote Control is not the only one, which brings ease to customers to stream videos on a TV. Google Chromecast and Apple AirPlay also offer similar functions. These features from various companies have come to the rescue of customers as they allow one to control the function using a smartphone or a tablet. Otherwise, one has to resort to text searches which get annoying when using the controller of a gaming console.
