Remastered versions of video games is a growing trend with next-generation consoles while players anxiously await new titles. The latest two games announced for next-gen, specifically, the PlayStation 4, comes from developer Quantic Dream.

Today, Sony confirmed that Quantic Dream's PlayStation 3 titles, Beyond: Two Souls and Heavy Rain, will become available for the PlayStation 4 sometime this year. Players can choose to buy the games on disk, but a digital version is also available for download. Sony also plans on offering a bundle with both games in digital and physical formats.

Unfortunately, Sony hasn't released much more information than that, other than what's included on the blog post about the games' release on PlayStation 4.

Although Sony's blog post doesn't exactly mention that Quantic Dream remastered the games for the PlayStation 4, the company does hint that the new versions of the games will look better.

"We can't wait to show you what they look like now ...," writes Sony on the PlayStation blog. "We'll share more details on exactly when and how you can get your hands on these classic games soon!"

Although Beyond: Two Souls received a lukewarm reception when released, the game itself saw critical praise, particularly with how it featured motion-capture performances by both Ellen Page, as the game's female lead, and Willem Dafoe. The story follows the life of Jodie, who has a psychic link to an incorporeal entity named Aiden. The game goes through Jodie's childhood into adulthood as Jodie learns more about what she is and learns to control the powers she gains through Aiden.

Heavy Rain not only saw critical praise, but also received BAFTA and AIAS game awards, setting the stage for games that relied more on "interactive drama" than gameplay. Heavy Rain's story of a father who would do anything for his son resonated with critics and gamers alike.

No release date for the PlayStation 4 versions of Beyond: Two Souls and Heavy Rain is available yet, but Sony promises we'll see them sometime this year.

In the meantime, we also have new exclusive titles to look forward to on the console in 2016, including the long-awaited The Last Guardian and Uncharted 4: A Thief's End.
