A new Galaxy S5 variant has appeared in Samsung help documents and a new report claims the Galaxy S5 Prime will officially launch in June.

Samsung does not like letting its rivals arrive at a party before it does and has gone to great lengths to beat them. The company reportedly rushed the launch of its first smartwatch, the Galaxy Gear, last year in order to beat Apple and Google to market. Samsung soon learned releasing a half-baked product in order to be first can comeback to bite you. The Galaxy Gear was plagued with issues; it could barely survive a day on a charge, only worked with select Samsung Galaxy smartphones, and its bulky design was a turn off to consumers.

LG also faced Samsung's desire to be first at a party late last year. In early 2013 LG announced it was working on introducing the first smartphone with a flexible display and it would go on sale before the end of the year. This was enough to put pressure on Samsung to release a handset with a flexible display before its rival. The company achieved what it set out to do and announced the Galaxy Round 17 days before LG announced its first smartphone with a flexible display, the LG G Flex.

We know the upcoming LG G3 will sport a 1440 x 2560 Ultra HD display and a new report claims Samsung's answer to that device will be its rumored Galaxy S5 Prime, which will feature a screen with the same resolution. Asia Today is citing "industry sources" that say  the premium Samsung Galaxy S5 Prime, which will have a 1440 x 2560 UHD display, will be launched in June.

A new Galaxy S5 variant, with model number SM-G906S, which is believed to be the Galaxy S5 Prime has appeared in support documents on Samsung's Find My Mobile service. We've already seen this device appear in benchmarks that listed the smartphone's specs. The Samsung Galaxy S5 Prime is expected to feature a 5.2-inch display with a resolution of 1440 x 2560, include 32GB of internal storage, and a microSD expansion slot that will support up to 128GB microSD cards.

The Galaxy S5 Prime will reportedly be powered by a 2.5GHz quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 805 processor and 3GB of RAM. The smartphone will also pack in a 16-megapixel rear camera and could have a metal body, as previously mentioned in multiple reports. We'll be sure to keep you posted on all things Samsung Galaxy S5 Prime as they happen.
