We know that Hawkgirl will be one of the central characters in The CW's upcoming superhero TV show Legends of Tomorrow. However, it now appears as if the hero will get her own series in the not-so-distant future.

According to a report from SpoilerTV, the CW is working on a standalone Hawkgirl series that will star Ciara Renee as the lead character. She will also be the one who will play Hawkgirl in Legends of Tomorrow.

We understand that if everything goes according to plan, the CW may go with a full season order. This would make perfect sense since the DC Universe in the making on the network has been quite successful so far, and there doesn't seem to be anything capable of slowing it down at the moment.

The project is in the early stages of development, which makes us believe it could be ready for a 2016 debut, should everything go according to plan.

What do we think about this?

Well, this is the age of comic book movies and TV shows. However, it might be possible that these networks are churning out too many. Don't be surprised if viewers get superhero fatigue before long. Fans will feel the need to make attempts to watch all available series, and this might contribute to the burnout.

We have DC kicking into gear several comic book series on the CW and other networks, and Marvel Studios is preparing several shows for Netflix.

The more successful these shows become, the more DC, Marvel and other comic book publishers will feel the need to put more content out there. A few huge failures will put the cork on the bottle, and already, that has begun.

Constantine was recently officially cancelled, and from what we can tell from the likes of Supergirl and Lucifer, mainly the latter, DC is on the verge of having more of its shows cancelled.
