Jimmy Fallon sustained a minor injury, prompting a trip to a New York City hospital Friday morning.
According to Fallon's representative, the Tonight Show host was admitted to the hospital because he needed to undergo minor surgery for injuring his hand in his home in Manhattan. The Tonight Show's official Twitter account also shared the news Friday afternoon, saying the taping scheduled for Friday was canceled and that a repeat will be aired for the show.
Although the tweet said that Fallon was fine, fans were quick to respond with concern for the host. As some of the responses included concerned ticket-holders for Friday, the show also reiterated that those who had tickets for the taping will be contacted by their audience team to reschedule their visit.
Fallon took to Twitter after his surgery to show he is doing well, posting a picture of his hand in a cast with the caption: "Tweeting with one hand." It was good to see the host was fine and in good spirit but the rest of Twitter quickly became concerned.
@jimmyfallon Ouch. What happened? I hope it’s not a tweeting-related injury. Glad to see you have limber thumbs.

He explained that he had tripped but luckily caught his fall. Unfortunately, his ring caught on the side of a table, which nearly resulted in Fallon ripping his finger off. He followed up with a tweet saying “#drugged #blessed” and another one thanking everyone for their good wishes.
The Tonight Show is actually scheduled to go on a two-week hiatus starting next week so Fallon will definitely have time to recover.
Friday’s show was supposed to have Penn & Teller, Taylor Kitsch and Benicio Del Toro as guests.
