The vehicle with the most American-made content might surprise you. Well, that's because, it's a foreign car that's merely built in the United States.

It's the Toyota Camry. A Cars.com list for vehicles with the most American-made content ranks the 2015 Camry, built out of a plant in Georgetown, KY. and sharing the Lafayette, IN. plant with Subaru, as No. 1 on its yearly American-made index. That Camry supports 5,900 assembly workers and surpasses Ford's F-150 pickup for the vehicle with the most American-made content.

Based on using at least 75 percent domestic content, the 2015 Camry is followed by the Toyota Sienna (Princeton, IN. plant), Chevrolet Traverse (Lansing, MI. plant), Honda Odyssey (Lincoln, AL. plant), GMC Acadia (Lansing, MI.), Buick Enclave (Lansing, MI.) and the Chevrolet Corvette (Bowling Green, KY. plant) on Cars.com's list.

This marks the first time in the list's nine-year history that less than 10 cars were found to have at least 75% American-made content, which doesn't bode well for cars made in the USA at all. Just five years ago, the same index had 29 cars on it. The U.S.'s top-selling vehicle, the Ford F-150, doesn't even have at least 75 percent American-made content after its 2015 redesign.

It's no surprise that Detroit still makes more cars with high domestic content than any other city in America. And it's significant to point out that GM, Ford and Fiat Chrysler Automobiles build 37 of the 57 U.S.-assembled cars with 60 percent American-made content, according to the same Cars.com index.

To put together this perennial list, Cars.com views the percentage of American-made parts in every car in addition to where it was built and how well it sold. Where the profits went after the sale are not part of its criteria.
