It's easy to see that Sony's PlayStation 4 continues to sell well around the world, but the console's dominance is particularly strong in one region: Europe.

According to Sony Computer Entertainment Europe President Jimy Ryan in an interview with VG24/7, the PlayStation brand is enjoying 70 percent marketshare in every European nation, with the company's marketshare in certain continental European countries surpassing 90 percent.

"We have a very significant market leadership," Ryan told the site shortly after the company's E3 press conference.

"Well, we have market leadership in every country in Europe, and have very significant market leadership in continental Europe. Extremely significant. I don't think market-share's any less than 70%, and frequently greater than 90% in continental Europe."

Ryan goes on to say Sony is in no rush to lower the price of the PS4 in the region.

"Particularly in Europe... our momentum is still very considerable," Ryan said. "We're happy with the price and we're happy with the value proposition. Consumers, equally and more importantly, appear to he happy with the price and the value proposition. We'll leave it where it is for now."

The PlayStation continues to outsell the Xbox One in the U.S. as well, though Microsoft's gaming console enjoys a considerably larger portion of the market stateside. The two companies continue to battle it out for the best-selling console each month, and while more often than not PlayStation 4 has emerged the victor, Xbox does regularly come out on top, like in April.

A new 1 terabyte PS4 console will be making its way to Europe on July 15 at the price of £349.99, the same price as the 500GB version. Despite Ryan's words, might the 500GB PS4 soon be getting a price drop? It seems likely. Still no word yet on whether or not the 1TB PS4 will make its way to the states, but considering Microsoft's 1TB Xbox One is already on store shelves, expect an official announcement sooner rather than later.
