Just after eight hours from its launch, Beats 1 radio went off their air for a bit over 30 minutes.

During the downtime, when users were trying to access the flagship live radio show of Apple Music, Apple's music streaming service, users were receiving notifications that an "unknown error has occurred."

The error message appeared when users were attempting to access Beats 1 radio through the app of Apple Music and through the stream of Beats 1 radio in iTunes.

Beats 1 radio went down at around 8:30 p.m. ET, during the show Requests with Travis Mills in Los Angeles. The show was expected to run until 10:00 p.m. ET.

After a bit over 30 minutes at 9:06 p.m. ET, Beats 1 radio went back online, with Love Me Harder by Ariana Grande playing.

Beats 1 radio was running smoothly since its launch, save for some oddities in the user experience such as missing options to save to purchase certain tracks.

The launch of Beats 1 radio featured popular DJs Julie Adenuga, Zane Lowe and Ebro Darden, who are now all employees of Apple. There were also some one-hour periods of shows that were semi-hosted between the shows of the DJs.

The reason behind the disappearance of Beats 1 radio has not yet been determined, though several sources have said that the outage could have been due to problems encountered by Amazon Web services on the United States East Coast. However, the status page of Amazon did not signify that any such problems were happening with their East Coast servers.

Playfully, some outlets have suggested that it was a request by Jaden Smith that caused the service to crash. Less than a minute before Beats 1 radio went offline, Smith called up the live request show and requested for the theme song to the cult classic TV series Buffy the Vampire Slayer.

The launch of Beats 1 radio coincided with the debut of Apple Music and the release of iOS 8.4.

Apple is offering a three-month free trial period for users to test Apple Music, after which a monthly subscription fee of $9.99 will be charged for the user to continue to access the music streaming service. For a family of up to six members, the monthly subscription fee will only be $14.99.

Beats 1 radio is free to access for all users that are signed in using their Apple IDs.
