Forget going out in the middle of the night to stock up on snacks — soon, you'll be able to get your snacks and slurpees from 7-Eleven delivered straight to you.

As part of a new deal with the delivery service Postmates, the popular convenience store is making shopping much more convenient for its customers in California.

Select stores in San Francisco and Oakland will provide access to the on-demand delivery service through its website and the accompanying app for iOS and Android. That means getting items like warm pretzels, chips and dip and 7-Eleven's signature slurpees at home in just one hour or less.

"7-Eleven's founder, Joe C. Thompson Jr., used to say 7-Eleven's mission was to 'give customers what they want, when and where they want it'," said 7-Eleven's vice president of innovation and omnichannel strategy Raja Doddala in a press release. "Through the modern-day technology that Postmates provides, we can fulfill that promise in a way we haven't done before."

While the on-demand 7-Eleven delivery service is only being offered in California for now, it's expected to expand to other areas such as New York, Chicago, Austin and Washington D.C.

"Through our partnership with Postmates, 7-Eleven's reach extends beyond our physical stores," Doddala said. "The program should work well for us because it appeals to our customers who are more on-the-go, connected 24/7 and prefer fast-paced, urban living."

Partnering with 7-Eleven is the San Francisco-based delivery service's first deal outside of the food and drink industry. Postmates already has partnerships with McDonalds, Starbucks and Chipotle.

"By partnering with 7-Eleven, we will be able to provide both 7-Eleven and Postmates customers access to groceries, fresh food and other goods across all markets that our companies are both operating in," said Postmates senior vice president Holger Luedorf in a press release.

"In providing 7-Eleven with a digital storefront and giving its team access to our fleet of more than 12,000 Postmates, we are making the experience even more convenient for our joint customers."

This is also the first partnership with a delivery service for the convenient store chain.

Customers will be able to order prepared food, household products and in-store medicine through the Postdates app; however, they will not be able to purchase alcohol.

The 7-Eleven on-demand delivery service is now available in San Francisco and Oakland.
