Somehow, virtual reality is only getting bigger and bigger. While there's still some time left to wait before consumers can get their hands on any of the big-name VR techs, there's still an unrivaled amount of buzz surrounding the projects: between Oculus Rift and Project Morpheus, it seems like everyone's excited about at least one of the headsets (if not both).

However, while Oculus Rift had a huge showing at E3 2015, Sony stayed rather quiet about Project Morpheus. The publisher's press conference was dedicated to games, which is great - but the release window for Sony's headset is fast approaching, and fans still no next to nothing about what to expect come launch day...and that includes the price.

Sadly, it doesn't look like Sony is going to open up about Project Morpheus' price point any time soon: in an interview with GamesIndustry International, PlayStation Worldwide Studios president Shuhei Yoshida claimed that "it's too early" to talk about the headset's pricing.

"We are talking about launching next year so typically we don't talk about pricing one year ahead of time. I think we announced the price of PS4 at E3 the year of the launch so that's five months before the launch. So it's too early."

To be fair, Yoshida's strategy does make sense. It's annoying for consumers, but it doesn't make sense for Sony to start talking about its product's pricing before it really starts to inform the average consumer of why it's worth buying. There's also a little thing called the Oculus Rift that may make an impact on the Morpheus, though Yoshida was quick to dispell any rumors that Sony was waiting for its competition to make the first move.

"It's not like we are waiting for Oculus to announce their price. We still have work to do to know exactly the cost of goods and so on."

While Oculus has yet to announce a solid price point, the company did give a $1500 estimate for the 'full Oculus experience' - and, while that may sound ridiculous at first, Oculus' estimate included a high-powered gaming computer. Considering that some high-end machines run at roughly $1000, it looks like Oculus could be hovering near the $500 price point.

So, when will Sony reveal its VR headset's price? Right now, there's no way to know for sure, but there's a chance that Project Morpheus will have a sizable presence at this year's Tokyo Game Show - otherwise, expect Morpheus to return to GDC next year with a price tag in tow.

As for when you'll actually be able to buy Sony's VR headset, the Project Morpheus will be available commercially sometime during the first half of 2016.
