Toy company Hasbro is about to transform the online gamer and video platform Machinima with its new partnership. The two have joined forces to release a new Transformers animated series.

The new digital series will be based on Hasbro's Transformers: Combiner Wars line, the storyline that has been featured in the action figures and comic books over the course of the past year.

"We couldn't be more excited to bring one of the biggest franchises in the world to Machinima. Our audiences are huge fans of the comics, movies, toys and video games, and for us to continue the legend with the Combiner Wars is a unique storytelling opportunity," Machinima's chief creative officer Daniel Tibbets said in a press release.

The new Transformers animated series will feature both the characters fans have followed for years, along with all-new ones like Superior and Menasor.

With a mix of action and humor, the show will be the first Transformers series targeted toward teens and adults.

"We're thrilled to be teaming up with Machinima on this groundbreaking, new digital series," said Tom Warner, senior vice president for the Transformers franchise for Hasbro. "As one of the top global producers and distributors of digital entertainment, they're the perfect partner to help launch a totally new kind of Transformers animation — one that, for the first time ever, is specifically designed for the teen and adult fans who have grown up loving the Transformers brand. We look forward to delivering amazing action, storytelling and characterization that these fans demand ..."

In the Transformers: Combiner Wars storyline that appears in the Hasbro toys, IDW Publishing's comics and other merchandise, follows combiner Transformers that combine their bodies together to form a Super Robot.

The animated series will include this storyline as well as that the in upcoming Transformers: Devastation video game.

There are no further details regarding when the series will air.
