Samsung is allegedly seeking to move the autumn launch of its new Galaxy Note 5 up to mid-August in an attempt to overtake the debut of the new iPhone 6s and distance itself from the frenzy that usually happens with the launch of new Apple products.

An initial unconfirmed report from the Wall Street Journal suggest that the Samsung Galaxy Note 5 will be launched in September, the same month when Apple is set to unveil the iPhone 6s and 6s Plus.

According to the WSJ, the debut of the Samsung Galaxy Note 4 last year quickly became overshadowed by the new larger screens of the iPhone 6 and 6 Plus, which were released just six days after. In the constant battle between the two companies to be the top smartphone maker, it does make sense for Samsung to release the newest addition to the phablet family earlier than initially expected.

Ever since September 2011, the South Korean company has launched new products at IFA in Berlin. However, the WSJ reports that Samsung may be looking to move the launch to a yet undisclosed city in the U.S next month.

No official statement has been released by Samsung regarding these reports, and so far Samsung's social media sites have mainly been focusing on posting updates for the Galaxy S6 and S6 Edge.

As previously reported, leaks from top Samsung-centric news website SamMobile revealed the possible new specs to anticipate in the new Samsung flagship phablet.

The Galaxy S6 Edge Plus, codenamed Project Zen, according to the leak, will have 32 GB of internal storage, a hexa-core Snapdragon 808 processor, a 3,000 mAh battery, a 16-megapixel primary camera with OIS, 4K video recording, a 5-megapixel secondary camera, and maybe even the possibility to store RAW images for photography enthusiasts.

Meanwhile, the leak site also revealed that the Galaxy Note 5, with the internal project codename Project Noble, will be Samsung's first true "all in one solution" with a 64-bit octa-core CPU, GPU, RAM, an Exynos 7422 processor, and the company’s homegrown Shannon LTE modem.

If the rumors are true, Samsung is hoping that these new beefed up specs of its new phablets, in addition to an earlier than normal release date, will be enough to keep them ahead of the game against Apple.
