With studios like Marvel and Sony keeping a low profile and a series of new films on the way, Comic Con 2015 was unquestionably Star Wars' time to shine. The beloved franchise was the subject of one of the show's most high profile panels tonight, featuring director JJ Abrams and returning cast members Mark Hamill, Harrison Ford and Carrie Fisher, among others.

The highlight of the event was, arguaby a behind the scenes reel featuring glimpses of The Force Awakens and interviews with cast members like Hamill, "Everything's changed, but nothing's changed. That's the way you want it to be, really. Seeing the way technology has evolved and yet keeping one for in the pre-digital world."

Also of note was an appearance by Shaun of the Dead-turned-Star-Trek-Scotty Simon Pegg, who makes a cameo appearance as an alien. "My life is now complete."

The baddies got some stage time as well. Villains for the forthcoming film include Adam Driver as Kylo Ren, Gwendoline Christieas stormtrooper Captain Phasm, and now we know that Domhnall Gleeson as General Hux, a commander of the First Order's Starkiller Base.

And like the BB-8, the Star Wars ball will keep rolling when Gareth Edwards' Rogue One starts filming in three weeks.
