Apple has pushed out iTunes 12.2.1 to counter issues pertaining to Apple Music, Beats 1 and iTunes Match.

The maintenance update was pushed out on Monday, July 13, and will come as a relief for users who were being troubled by the iTunes Match issues, where tracks would automatically get converted as content from Apple Music.

"If you join Apple Music and are a current iTunes Match subscriber, you might notice that some previously matched songs appear as Apple Music songs after you add Apple Music playlists. Update to the latest version of iTunes to correct the information automatically. After you update, you can remove and download again any songs that were incorrectly downloaded as Apple Music," notes Apple's support.

This issue results to Data Rights Management (DRM) being added unnecessarily as the tracks from Apple Music have copy right protection. The problem was concerning as in the event a user's subscription expires, they would not be able to play these songs.

The current update not only solves this conundrum but will also bring improved streaming for the online radio station Beats 1 users. The original version brought issues of streams dropping abruptly at the time of playback, which required one to quit and relaunch iTunes to counter the problem.

iTunes 12.2.1 update counters the following issues for users of iTunes Match or Apple Music:

- Fixes an issue for iTunes Match users where iTunes incorrectly changed some songs from Match to Apple Music.

- Provides a way to correct a library problem affecting former iTunes Match subscribers.

- Includes minor bug fixes and improvements for Beats 1.

The update is available for Mac owners via the Mac App Store. Simply navigate to the Updates tab. If you're a Windows user you will be able to get the software update through iTunes.com/download or the Apple Software Update.

Those who may need to get rid of and download the tracks that were incorrectly saved as Apple Music content can do the following:

Step 1: Open iTunes 12.2.1. Click on Music icon which is on the upper left.

Step 2: Next, click My Music.

Step 3: Control-click the tracks that have been downloaded incorrectly as Apple Music content then click Remove Download.

Step 4: Control-click these tracks again and opt for Make Available Offline so you can download these songs again as iTunes Match content.
