Skype announced that it has released Skype 5.5 for Android, which comes with several improvements to make the app much easier to use for users on devices powered by Google's mobile operating system.

According to a blog post by Skype, the improvements were made so that users can instead spend their time chatting with the people that they care about the most.

One of the improvements that Skype has introduced with Skype 5.5 is a simplified way for users to sign back into their accounts.

While Skype has made improvements in the battery usage and notifications system of Skype for Android, certain users still opt to sign out of their Skype accounts. Skype 5.5 has made it easier for users to sign back into Skype by remembering the log-in credentials of users so that they will not have to input them every single time.

With the improvements, Skype users can sign back into their accounts by tapping on an arrow, immediately allowing the user to send messages and make calls using the app. For users that are more keen on security, such as those that share their Android devices over more than one user, the settings of Skype can be changed to require the password to be typed in every time an account is being accessed on the app. The option will be under the Privacy section in the Settings menu after users log in.

Skype has also introduced the feature to preview web links while chatting on the app, which is a feature that has been previously launched for iOS and Mac devices.

With the feature, users that send links for websites while chatting will see a visual preview of the content on the link that was sent, which makes it easier for the receiver to see what was shared in chat.

Android users can now download the update to Skype through the Google Play Store.

Skype added that it is always looking for further improvements to the experience of using the communications app, and so encourage users to provide feedback through the app. The Feedback option can be found within the Support section under the Settings menu.
