A couple of newly-leaked promotional images show what looks like the next-generation Sony Xperia flagship, marketed as a "made for bond" smartphone.

Sony already launched a new-generation smartphone this year, introducing the Xperia Z4 for Japan, which later made its way to the global market as the Xperia Z3+. The launch of the handset stirred mixed reactions, however, as many felt it did not bring big enough upgrades compared to its predecessor. Rumors started to surface hinting at another flagship - the true one - to launch later this year.

If these newly-leaked images are any indication, Sony might indeed be planning something big. The company may release another flagship smartphone for 2015, and it could be worthy of James Bond's attention.

The images in question surfaced on Digi-Wo (translated) and tease a Sony Xperia *5 (the letter is blurred out), associated with the next Spectre 007 movie in the highly-acclaimed James Bond series. It's worth pointing out that Sony Computer Entertainment is also the parent company of Columbia Pictures, the studio that will distribute the Spectre 007.

The Xperia device mentioned in these images could be the rumored Xperia Z5, which could launch in the second half of 2015 alongside an Xperia Z5 Compact. Considering that it's teased as a "made for Bond" smartphone, the handset should come with state-of-the-art tech specs and features to make it worthy of the title.

The next Bond movie, Spectre 007, is set to make its debut in Nov. 6. If Sony does indeed plan to market its next-generation flagship smartphone as a "Made for Bond" device, it should unveil the handset before the movie hits theaters.

No official confirmation is available at this point, however, so it all remains in the rumor state for now. Sony has not made any comment regarding rumors of a new Xperia flagship smartphone for 2015 and the accuracy of these leaked images remains unverified. That said, it's best to take this leak with a grain of salt.
