Developer KING Art Games has announced that the upcoming game, The Dwarves, features a physics-based combat and is based on the intriguing novel The Dwarves by Markus Heitz.

The new tactical RPG title is debuting at Gamescom 2015 in Germany with a premiere gameplay footage. The announcement came from Eurovideo, which added that the game will feature Crowd Combat, where the game's enemies will gravitate to where the action is and fight where they are needed. Inspired by the laws of physics, the game will have its characters create an impact on each other whenever there is an interaction between them.

Players will assume the game character of Tungdil, a dwarf who lived with humans while he was growing up. Tungdil has 12 friends in the game, each with his own distinct character and fighting abilities.

As the game progresses, Tungdil will have to face a number of battles and missions and will be helped by only four of his friends, whom he would need to choose wisely. To succeed against several hundreds of enemies and surpass a number of brutal battles along the way, Tungdil and his four friends need to have perfect timing and strategy and exhibit teamwork.

The game is set in Girdlegard, where players will travel through dozens of battlefields and unknown places that are waiting to be explored.

"We'll be presenting the game at the Gamescom," said KING Art Games on their official site. "After that there will be a Kickstarter campaign. Our experience with the campaigns for Battle Worlds: Kronos and The Book of Unwritten Tales 2 was really positive, so we're looking forward to make supporters play an early and important role in the development."

The game's trailer features some of the title's breathtaking battles and unique "flocking behavior" of the characters.

"If a dwarf lands a mighty blow with a heavy war hammer, struck orcs are thrown back, and some of them might even be pushed into an abyss," explained the developer.

The Dwarves, which is scheduled to formally launch in 2016, will be available for users of the PC, Xbox One and PlayStation 4.
