Swedish computer game publisher Nordic Games GmbH has confirmed that the new open-world action Role Playing Game (RPG) called ELEX will be released in Winter 2016/2017.

On Thursday, July 2 Nordic Games made an announcement that it is teaming up with Piranha Bytes to develop the ELEX. Nordic Games revealed that ELEX will be available on PC and existing gaming consoles.

Reinhard Pollice, the Business and Product Development Director at Nordic Games, indicated that ELEX will be one of the most ambitious projects for both the companies. Pollice said that saying that Nordic Games is excited for the new project is actually an "understatement."

"Apart from being enthusiastic about the cooperation with Nordic Games, it is great to know, that we will have ample creative freedom with ELEX, which is a very important factor for us," per Björn Pankratz, who is the Game Director at Piranha Bytes.

Piranha Bytes is a German video game developer, which is very well-known in the gaming industry for the Gothic role-playing video game series. Björn Pankratz, Piranha Bytes' game director, suggests that ELEX will offer a completely new gaming experience with "fresh setting, new assets and plenty of possibilities."

The post-apocalyptic science-fantasy game ELEX will put players in a seamless game world that will be full of original characters, powerful action and mutated creatures.

Nordic Games divulged that ELEX will make a public debut in early August this year during the Gamescom event, which is a trade fair for video games held annually at the Koelnmesse in Cologne, North Rhine-Westphalia, Germany.

The official Facebook page of the upcoming game reflects how gamers are keenly waiting for a new RPG.

"Awesome, I think this can be pretty cool. I hope game will have a very strong atmosphere element, for now it's one of the most important things for these types of games," commented a user on Facebook.

"This game seems to have great potential, but please don't ruin it by making it first-person," commented another user on Facebook.

Gamers will now have to wait till August to get more details about ELEX.
