The flip phone options at most North American carriers may be limited to nothing more than a few barebones models these days, but it isn't like that everywhere. The latest evidence of that is LG's new "Gentle" flip phone for Korea, where there's at least a big enough market to accommodate some higher-end models that many other countries don't get to see.

In this case, we're talking "higher-end" by flip phone standards. It runs Android Lollipop for starters (version 5.1), and it has a 1.1GHz quad-core processor, 4G LTE connectivity, 4GB of storage and 1GB of RAM. Apart from that, you'll have to make do with just a 3-megapixel rear camera (and VGA front-facing one), and a 480 x 320 3.2-inch display.

In addition to the tactility inherent in a flip phone with actual buttons, you'll also get some added tangibleness courtesy of a faux leather exterior, which appears to be available in your choice of two colors. And, at the local equivalent of $170 off-contract, it's a relatively affordable option for anyone looking to do away with a big slab of a phone but still hang onto some basic smartphone features.
