Most people would assume that any film from the man behind Inception, Interstellar and the Dark Knight trilogy would be huge news — but Christopher Nolan's latest film hasn't received nearly as much coverage as his other works. Indeed, most people probably didn't even know that he even had another movie coming out — much less that it's set to premiere next month.

No joke: Christopher Nolan's next movie, a short film titled Quay, will premiere on August 19 in New York City. Truth be told, it's a much smaller film than any of his recent works — even so, it would seem anything with Nolan's name on it would be a bigger deal.

Nolan's latest isn't even a bite-sized version of his other, more well-known works: while his feature films have tackled subjects like science fiction and philosophy, Quay is a documentary about Stephen and Timothy Quay, a pair of identical twin stop-motion animators based in London. The film will be premiering as part of a larger piece on the Quay brothers' animation over the years — one that Nolan happens to be curating himself.

It's a strange move — you'd expect that someone as well-known as Nolan would use his popularity to bring more attention to the project. To be sure, Nolan's name will definitely attract some viewers, but the director could have easily spent the last few months advertising the short film on social media — clearly, that didn't happen.

For those who wish to see Nolan's next film along with some of the best stop-motion animation in the industry, tickets to "The Quay Brothers - On 35mm" are available now. As an added bonus, both Christopher Nolan and the brothers themselves will be on-hand for a Q&A session on Quay's opening night: August 19.
