The rumors of an HTC One M8 Prime are beginning to take on more life, as a render of the 5.5-inch Quad HD display smartphone has been posted by a reliable source.

It looks like QHD displays are going to be the next big thing when it comes to Android smartphones. We already know LG is going to announce the first smartphone with this high of a resolution display on May 27 with its LG G3 handset. Samsung will soon join LG with its upcoming Galaxy S5 Prime, which is expected to be a more premium version of its current flagship and will also feature an aluminum body along with a 5.1-inch QHD display.

We just reported on HTC's plan to enter the QHD-equipped smartphone party with the HTC One M8 Prime and now the very reliable leaker, evleaks has posted a 360 degree render of the HTC One M8 Prime based off what the site claims to know about HTC's secret smartphone.

The site has already revealed the HTC One M8 Prime will ship with a 5.5-inch 2560 x 1440 QHD display, a 2.5GHz quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 805 processor and a healthy 3GB of RAM. The tipster also claims the smartphone will join Sony and Samsung's flagship smartphones by being certified waterproof and that HTC was planning on using a mixture of aluminum and liquid silicone to make this happen.

The HTC One M8 Prime render indicates the company is planning on bringing the flagship's rear Duo Camera, which doesn't lie flush with the rear case like the HTC One M8's camera does. The handset also retains the front-facing dual stereo speakers with HTC BoomSound.

Another noticeable change from the HTC One M8 is the HTC One M8 Prime's power button has moved from the top of the handset to the side of the smartphone. This has been one criticism reviewers have given the HTC One M8, as a side button would make it easier and more convenient to turn on. This is the reason Apple is moving the 4.7-inch and 5.5-inch iPhone 6's power button to the side.

There hasn't been a rumored release date for the HTC One M8 Prime like there has been for the June launch of the Samsung Galaxy S5 Prime. We'll keep our eye on this for you.
