Fallout 4 is being eagerly awaited by avid gamers and while the game will support mods on both Xbox One and PC, developer Bethseda has let slip that the tools for the same will take a while and will not be supported at launch.

In an interview, Pete Hines, Bethseda's Marketing VP revealed that the studio's priority is the completion of the game. While Fallout 4 will support mods, the sharing system and the tools to do mods have not been created yet. Once the game is completed, Bethseda will focus on mod support. So, at the time of launch, Fallout 4 will not offer support for mods.

"Our entire focus is on finishing the game. Nobody cares about mods if the game sucks. This has always been our philosophy. We shift energy to construction tools, the creation kit, and all of that stuff once the game is done, and we start to figure out what all of that is going to look like," said Hines.

Hines also let on that mod support needs work which is new to the team and has not been undertaken before.  He revealed that while the idea was for the mod tools to work across all platforms, the system for the same did not exist currently. The studio was working on building it and the same would take some time.

Bethseda has to create it from scratch and it will undoubtedly be a time consuming process. How long you ask? Possibly 2016 if you read between the lines.

"It's going to take clearly into next year because we can't even start it...," said Hines.

Fallout 4 is poised for a November 10 release on PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC. Gamers will be hoping that Bethseda can sort out the cross platform compatibility for the mods and work on releasing the tools soon after launch. For now, Bethseda's focus remains on bringing a bug-free Fallout 4 gamers' way that does not have any frame rate issues.
