Amazon is showing off its patriotism for Memorial Day by offering 1,000 Amazon Coins ($10 Appstore credit) to anyone who downloads five free apps the company is promoting.

When Amazon launched its first Kindle Fire tablet, the company released its own Appstore for Android that its tablets exclusively use in place of Google Play, but it also made its Appstore available to all Android smartphones and tablets as well. Amazon came up with a clever way to get non-Kindle Fire owners to install the Appstore by giving them an incentive to do so.

Each and every single day, Amazon offers one of its paid apps for free. These usually range from simple games and apps up to and sometimes including premium apps and games. It's a great way to get potential customers to visit its store every day. In honor of Memorial Day, Amazon has announced a sweet deal that is definitely worth doing if you own any kind of Android device.

Amazon has posted five different completely free apps that are available now through May 31. If you download one of the apps, you'll be given 200 Amazon coins, which will give you $2 to use in the Appstore. Why stop at $2?
