We knew it was coming in the fall and now we possibly have a specific release date. German carrier, Deutsche Telekom has told its team that the iPhone 6 will go on sale Sept. 19.
Apple will kick off its 2014 World Wide Developers conference on June 2 and the company is widely expected to show previews of both of its next-generation iOS 8 mobile OS, which drive its iPhone, iPad and iPod touch devices and its desktop OS, Mac OS X 10.10. There are also new reports that claim Apple will also unveil a new smart home platform that will let iOS users use their devices to control more than just Macs and Apple TV, but home appliances.
iOS 8 is expected to be released in the fall alongside the debut of the iPhone 6. We might have a better idea of exactly when we'll be able to purchase the highly anticipated smartphone. Carriers have depended on Apple's yearly iPhone refresh to gain new customers and also keep its current. If a new report is to be believed, surely Apple will begin selling the iPhone 6 on Sept. 19.
Based on a new report [in German], German cellular carrier Deutsche Telekom has told its support representatives that the iPhone 6 will go on sale on the said date. It's unclear if this date is the day that the smartphone will hit store shelves, but it coincides with the timing of last year's iPhone 5s launch and the previous year's iPhone 5 release date.
In 2012 Apple began selling the iPhone 5 online, in its own retail stores, and around the world on Sept. 21. Last year's iPhone 5s followed the same schedule and was made available to the public on Sept. 20. Apple has almost primarily released every single iPhone on Fridays and Sept. 19 just so happens to fall on a Friday this year. It's still unclear if we're going to see the 5.5-inch iPhone 6 launch at the same time as the 4.7-inch model. Some reports claim the larger iPhone 6 has faced some manufacturing problems that could delay it launching with the smaller model.
