Blink and you've missed it. But for one, brief, shining moment, Bethesda was able to make its highly sought after Fallout 4 limited edition Pip-Boy available again. And just like that, in one quick Internet second, it was sold out, leaving hundreds of fans screaming at their screens, "Nooooooooo!!!"

So right now, the preorders for Pip-Boys are once again closed, but that is not stopping some fans from keeping vigil at the official Bethesda online store in case that "Order Now" button suddenly and inexplicably goes live again.

As of yet, Bethesda has not explained what phenomenon occurred that allowed it to take in some new preorders for the Pip-Boy. According to reports, its previous announcement stated that no additional Pip-Boys will be manufactured due to factory limitation. Some are speculating that Bethesda had miscounted its initial stock of the plastic replicas and where therefore able to offer up some more, and some are suggesting that cancelled preorders for the $120 phone case are behind the sudden, but oh-so-brief, availability of the Pip-Boy.

Fans are still not losing hope that they will get their hands on a Pip-Boy replica for their phones to use as a secondary screen during game play. The Pip-Boy has been an important element in the game since its first release in 2008 and Bethesda simply did not anticipate such wildly popular demand for the limited release replica that came packaged with Fallout 4 Collector's Edition.

But not to fret, already, some innovative Fallout 4 fans have posted instructions online on how to create your very own Fallout 4 replica Pip-Boy. And if you decide to try your hand at these D.I.Y. projects, you won't even have to worry if your phone is too big compared with the official Bethesda Pip-Boy, which is not made to house bigger smartphones or phablets.

Pip-Boy projects range from putting together various hardware store materials, or simply downloading 3D printable files to make your very own Pip-Boy.

In the meantime, you may also want to keep that finger on your mouse button just in case official Pip-Boys come up online again on the official Bethesda store. After all, if you hesitate for even a split second, you may lose your chance to preorder one yet again.
