Pre-orders for the Jolla tablet have started, with Jolla stating that there will only be a limited batch of the devices available through its online store.

Interested customers can now send in their reservations for the tablet, which was unveiled back in March at the annual Mobile World Congress that was held in Barcelona, Spain.

The Jolla tablet is powered by a 1.8GHz quad-core Intel Baytrail processor with 2GB worth of RAM. Users have the option of the tablet coming with a memory capacity of either 32GB or 64GB, with all versions of the device also featuring a 5MP rear-facing camera and a 2MP front-facing camera. The display of the Jolla tablet is a 7.85-inch screen with a 2,048 x 1,536 pixel resolution for 330 pixels per inch, while the battery is a 4,450mAh one.

Unlike the competing tablet models for the Jolla tablet though, the device is not powered by Google's Android mobile operating system. Instead, the device uses the Sailfish 2.0 platform, which is an operating system that Jolla itself created.

Apps that have been developed for the Android operating system, however, can still run within Sailfish 2.0, in the same way that such apps can also be used in devices created by Blackberry. This would allow the Jolla tablet to keep in step with the massive number of Android -powered tablets in the market in terms of availability of software.

The tablet was developed for both minimalist and stylish, and according to Jolla, the device will provide users with a superb and previously unseen experience. The company claims that Sailfish 2.0 will give a topnotch multitasking experience to customers, with users to be granted total control over managing the apps that are running on the tablet. Sailfish 2.0 also provide users with a variety of customization features.

Finland-based Jolla also pointed out that Sailfish 2.0 will not contain any back doors and infiltration channels that can be exploited to extract the data of users.

Customers that are interested in the Jolla tablet can send in their pre-order now, with the tablet going for €267 or $300 for the 32GB model and €299 or almost $340 for the 64GB model. The price will change depending on where the customer is located though.

Users that pre-order the Jolla tablet will have their devices started shipping by late in October. Locations where customers can pre-order the device from the United States, Canada, European Union, Switzerland, Norway, India, Russia, Hong Kong and Australia.
