Chevrolet officially announced pricing for its brand-new 2016 Camaro coupe, which will rock a starting price of $26,695 including destination charge.

This means the entry price is $1,995 higher than that of the 2015 Camaro, but the automaker simplified the lineup in the process and ditched the previous 1LS/2LS trim levels. With the LS grade now out of the way, the 2016 Chevrolet Camaro now comes only in LT and SS grades, which break down to 1LT, 2LT, 1SS and 2SS trim levels.

Consequently, the 1LT is now the base 2016 Camaro and it comes at a $305 lower price than the 2015 Camaro 1LT. At the same time, the $26,696 staring price is for the base 275-horsepower turbocharged four-cylinder engine, a new take on this model. The first batch of 2016 Camaro will hit dealers in November, but with the optional V-6 engine, whereas the turbocharged version will hit the market in the first quarter of 2016. The optional V-6 models set to arrive in November will come at a higher price, but GM has yet to offer more specific details in this regards.

Other options, meanwhile, include the 2LT, 1SS and 2SS models, with the SS grades packing the LT1 6.2-liter V-8 for 455 hp and 455 pounds-feet torque. The 2016 Chevrolet Camaro 1SS has a starting price of $37,295, with destination charge included, which means that it costs $2,795 more than the 2015 1SS model.

GM has yet to offer pricing details for the 2LT, 2SS or convertible models. The 2SS coupe should reach roughly $45,000 for the most expensive configuration.

Nevertheless, although it will be more expensive than its predecessor, the 2016 Chevrolet Camaro will rock a notably upgraded interior, new powertrains, as well as some neat new technology to take things to the next level. The standard features of the 2016 Camaro include keyless access with push-button start, automatic climate control, a MyLink 7-inch touch screen with Apple CarPlay (Android Auto will be in the mix as well, but the current press release leaves it out for now), a USB port, 12-month satellite radio and Bluetooth phone/audio, a backup rear camera, dual power seats, 18-inch alloy wheels, and a stylish steering wheel wrapped in leather.

The 2LT grade gets a larger 8-inch MyLink touch screen with more voice recognition, but otherwise similar capabilities, as well as dual-zone climate control, heated and ventilated leather seats, and Bose audio.

The V-8 1SS model, meanwhile, gets 20-inch rims, high-intensity discharge headlights, a rear spoiler, a performance suspension, a limited-slip differential, Brembo brakes and some high-end mechanicals, but does away with the interior features of the aforementioned models. The 2SS, however, boasts the luxurious aspects of the 2LT, while also boasting a heated steering wheel. Additional options include dual-mode exhaust, a moonroof, adaptive suspension, as well as factory navigation.
