A new report claims that Samsung is working on a big tablet, literally. The tablet, codenamed "Tahoe," will pack in a large 18.4-inch full-HD display and be powered by a Samsung Exynos 7580 processor.

When it comes to pushing the boundaries of what is currently the norm on mobile devices, no one does it better and more often than Samsung. The company has never shied away from trying out new features like large display sizes to set itself apart from its biggest rivals. The company introduced the original Galaxy Note in 2011 with a large 5.3-inch display, which tech critics panned and marked DOA (dead on arrival), claiming consumers would not want to use, carry or hold such an extremely large smartphone up to their ear. Samsung proved the skeptics wrong, and its Galaxy Note phablets have quickly become one of its best-selling lines and paved the way for rival devices like Apple's iPhone 6 Plus, introduced last year.

Samsung's latest Galaxy Note 5 and Galaxy S6 Edge+, which both pack in 5.7-inch displays, have been released early in an attempt to get a jumpstart on sales of Apple's upcoming iPhone 6s Plus, which is expected to be announced at a Sept. 9 event.

Apple is also rumored to introduce a large 12.9-inch iPad Pro/Plus in the coming months, making the device its largest tablet to date. Samsung is reportedly looking to once again bring a giant screen to an upcoming device, and this time, it's expected to be an 18.4-inch tablet.

The report claims the upcoming Samsung tablet, which has a model number of SM-T670 and is codenamed "Tahoe," will be Android-based and has been designed to for use in "living rooms, offices, or schools." It will supposedly sport an 18.4-inch TFT LCD display with a resolution of 1920 by 1080, be powered by a 64-bit Samsung Exynos 7580 octa-core processor and 2 GB of RAM.

The Samsung "Tahoe" will run Android 5.1 Lollipop, include 32 GB of internal storage and a microSD expansion slot that will support up to 128 GB microSD cards. In terms of its camera capabilities, it will boast an 8 megapixel rear camera and 2.1 megapixel front-facing shooter for video chat and selfies. The tablet's dimensions are said to be 451.8 mm wide, 275.8 mm tall and 11.9 mm thick. Additionally, it will ship with a 5,700 mAh battery.

There is no information on when we can expect to see the Samsung "Tahoe" officially announced, but as always, we'll keep you posted on any new information as it becomes available.
