The Sony Xperia Z5 has been the subject of several leaks and rumors as the expected September reveal date is just around the corner. However, the latest leaks show our clearest look yet at the upcoming Sony flagship.

Prolific leaker Steve Hemmerstoffer of Nowhereelse.fr, also known by his Twitter handle @OnLeaks, has shared several photos of what is said to be a dummy model of the Xperia Z5. The photos appear to have been supplied by supply-side sources working on Sony's manufacturing line all the way from the Far East.

The dummy unit, pictured from several different angles, is the purported Xperia Z5 wrapped in a thin, plastic protective cover, and although the picture does not really provide confirmation about the rumored specs, it does confirm earlier reports that the Xperia Z5 will share the same Omni Balance design as the Xperia Z3 and Xperia Z4+.

One of the images also points to a fingerprint scanner mounted on the side of the device, which is a deviation from most fingerprint scanner implementations usually found at the home button of the device. Even so, having at least this one biometric security feature can give the Xperia Z5 a fighting chance against all the other flagships, which also have their own fingerprint scanners. However, there seems to be no chance that the phone will carry a USB Type-C port, at least as shown in the leaked images.

The Xperia Z5 is expected to make its first official public appearance at IFA in Berlin on September 9, along with a smaller Xperia Z5 Compact and a larger Xperia Z5+. Little has been confirmed about what the Xperia Z5 will have in terms of specs, but the multiple leaks and rumors all point to an octa-core Snapdragon 810 chipset from Qualcomm complemented by 3GB or 4GB of RAM.

With Sony having a lot of experience with cameras, the primary camera on the Xperia Z5 is expected to be one good 21.5MP shooter equipped with LED flash and the ability to shoot videos in 4K. The battery is also expected to be a whopping 4,000mAh battery, although no word has been made on whether the phone supports wireless charging or fast charging.

Meanwhile, the display will likely be a 2K display with a resolution of 1,440 x 2,460 pixels. The size of the display remains unknown, but earlier reports have pegged it to be somewhere between 5 inches and 5.5 inches. The latest leaked photos don't suggest anything about display size, but by our judgment, the phone appears to be on the smaller side. Check out the images below to see for yourself.
