When gamers preorder Transformers: Devastation in stores or digitally, they'll receive a trio of character skins and weapons that off-the-shelf shoppers won't have access to.

Activision made the announcement today that the skins and weapons will be given via downloadable content after the game has been released. The three character skins are "Nemesis Prime," "Red Alert" and "Goldfire." No details were given regarding which characters these skins can be applied to, though obviously, the first one is for Optimus Prime.

The three weapons preorderers will receive include the "Dark Star Sabre," a sword that radiates waves of dark energy; a photon disruptor cannon for big damage at short range distances; and twin "Golden Hunter" blaster pistols, which make enemies drop credits when shot by them.

Transformers: Devastation, from developer Platinum Games, offers fast-paced gameplay with 3D, cel-shaded graphics inspired by the original 1980s Transformers cartoon. Gamers will play through a brand new story by Transformers comic book writer Andy Schmidt, taking control of five Autobots along the way — Optimus Prime, Bumblebee, Sideswipe, Wheeljack and Grimlock.

In conjunction with the preorder bonus announcement, Activision also released a new behind-the-scenes video about the game. The video stars the voice of Optimus Prime himself, legendary voice actor Peter Cullen.

Transformers: Devastation launches on October 9, 2015 for PlayStation 4, PlayStation 3, Xbox One, Xbox 360 and Steam.
