Fans of the Moto X now have a lot more memory they can utilize to store their favorite games, photographs and more. After much speculation, Motorola has unveiled the 64GB variant of its flagship smartphone - the Moto X.

Rumors pertaining to a 64GB version of the Moto X were gaining traction online. They were fueled further when in May this year, the graphics and code for the supposed 64GB Moto X were discovered on the Moto Maker website. Moreover, a leaked document from Sprint added fuel to the fire, seemingly confirming the existence of the 64GB Moto X. However, the internal Sprint calendar for May/June listed the 64GB Moto X as available with the company from "Friday 23."

Now, Motorola has laid to rest all rumors and announced the 64GB variant of its popular smartphone officially. The 64GB model of the Moto X will sport a price tag of $449, making it $100 more expensive than the 16GB variant.

Motorola has also devised a novel way to promote the 64GB variant of the Moto X. The company has launched a "Try Then Buy" program, which is a one-day gig that starts on June 8 and closes at 11 p.m. (CT) on June 9.

As  of reporting, all units for the promo have  sold out.

"That's it. Thanks for being a fan! We've sold all the Moto X phones we alloted for this promotion," promo page read.

Those who were able to grab the Moto X can customize the unlocked version via Moto Maker, as well as test it out for 14 days.  For this, one will be charged $0.01 upfront and the device gets shipped. In the event one chooses not to keep the Moto X, the card will not be charged and Motorola will pay for the return shipping.

Customers who keep the Moto X will also get a promo code which entitles them to 30 percent discount on accessories.

For the uninitiated, the Moto X launched in Aug. 2013 and initially came with Android 4.2 Jelly Bean out of the box. In Nov. 2013, Motorola pushed out the Android 4.4.2 KitKat update for the smartphone and currently, the Moto X is receiving the Android 4.4.3 KitKat update in some regions.

The Android-powered Moto X from Motorola sports a 4.7-inch display (720 x 1280 pixels resolution). Under the hood, it houses a powerful 1.7GHz dual-core Qualcomm MSM8960Pro Snapdragon processor, as well as 2GB of RAM. However, the Moto X has a down side that it does not have an expandable memory option, but with the 64GB version this too is sorted for those looking for ample storage.

The Moto X also has a fantastic 10-megapixel primary camera and a 2-megapixel front-facing camera to satisfy your selfie needs! The Moto X is also popular thanks to nifty features like Touchless Control and Active Display.

The 64GB model of the Moto X will be available via carriers like Sprint, AT&T, T-Mobile and Republic Wireless.
