Your tweets can come back to haunt you in any line of work...especially the sports world.

Russell Wilson found that out first hand Sunday (September 13) with the Seattle Seahawks opening their 2015 NFL season on the road against the St. Louis Rams. For some reason, the Seahawks' star quarterback decided to take to his Twitter account the day before the game and tweet, "1-0."

Well, let's just say that the Hawks' NFC West division rival Rams used that tweet as motivating fuel, surviving an 18-point fourth-quarter rally and recording a game-winning 37-yard field goal in overtime to defeat Seattle, 34-31.

Afterwards, the Rams reminded Wilson of his braggadocio, laying it on thick via their own official Twitter account.

Rams running back Benny Cunningham even made Wilson's bold prediction part of his postgame quotes.

What made Wilson tweet that in the first place?

The Rams played the Seahawks as tough as anyone last season, as the teams split their series last year. That and Wilson has to simply know that the slightest trash talk can trigger unwanted motivation from the other team.

Wilson absolutely got the reaction he wasn't looking for here. Maybe, other players and teams take this as a cue to stay away from predicting games on social media in the future.
