Heroes Reborn creator and showrunner Tim Kring revealed that original Heroes character Claire Bennet (Hayden Panettierre) would be dead at the beginning of the new miniseries premiering Sept. 24 on NBC. If you're still in denial about that fact, you might not want to watch this new Heroes Reborn promo.
In the promo, we see Claire's father Noah Bennet, a.k.a. Horn-Rimmed Glasses a.k.a. HRG (Jack Coleman), standing in the midst of some rubble after what looks like a massive explosion. It then cuts to a shot of him kissing the forehead of what appears to be the dead body of Claire. Surprisingly, this teaser doesn't leave much to the imagine where that's concerned.
"My daughter died on that day. You don’t just forget a day like that," Noah says in the promo, seemingly referring to the day of that aforementioned disaster.
Other than the fact that Claire passed away a year before the events of Heroes Reborn take place, no details have been revealed yet as to how she actually did end up in the morgue. However, I would venture to say that the scene of destruction Noah stands in at the beginning of this promo is the terrorist attack in Odessa, Texas that the heroes are blamed for and that occurred a year prior to when Heroes Reborn begins. Since Noah is also shown yelling for Claire in this moment, it seems likely that this tragedy had something to do with her death.
Whatever Claire's cause of death may be, it's going to be interesting to see how it happened because of the fact that her superpower on the show was famously regeneration, which made her basically invincible. It should definitely set a new melancholy tone for what already appears to be a darker take on the Heroes universe in Heroes Reborn.
