Nickelodeon teased a new platform called The Splat earlier this month that seemed to suggest the network would be bringing back some of its beloved Nicktoons from the 1990s. Well, now we finally know what The Splat is all about — and it might just be better than we imagined.

Nickelodeon revealed more details about The Splat Thursday, which will launch on October 5. The network described The Splat as "a new multiscreen content destination spanning television, seven social media platforms and a dedicated web site aggregating the most loved Nick content from the 1990s and beyond" in a press release.

First and foremost, The Splat will feature a new eight-hour programming block airing daily from 10 p.m. to 6 a.m. ET/PT on Nickelodeon's TV channel TeenNick. It will broadcast classic episodes of some of the network's most famous animated and live-action series from the 1990s, including Angry Beavers, The Wild Thornberrys and All That.

This will be very similar to "The '90s Are All That" programming block that debuted on TeenNick in 2011. Upon its launch, The Splat will feature themed weeks for its programming on TeenNick, such as the first episodes of a series, the best Rugrats episodes featuring Reptar and the return of the interactive Halloween-themed week "Nick or Treat."

But since Nickelodeon needs to go where the Millennials are – now that it is appealing to the nostalgia of this age group with its new initiative – The Splat will also have a big online presence. This will include seven social media channels for The Splat (Facebook, Instagram, Pinterest, Tumblr, Twitter, Vine and YouTube), the content of which will also be featured on TheSplat.com.

Nickelodeon will also launch a new emoji keyboard for The Splat that will be available in the App Store and Google Play in early October. The emoji keyboard will feature 30 Nickelodeon emoticons, stickers and GIFs of shows like Ren & Stimpy, Hey Arnold! and Rocko's Modern Life. New emojis will also be added on a monthly basis. This should come in handy for those times when Filburt is the only one who can express your feelings perfectly.
