By now you've likely heard that Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 5, released on September 29, is a bit of a mess. Though reviews for the game aren't out yet (Activision didn't send out early review copies, which should probably tell you something about the game's quality), players have been recording all the various glitches they've encountered so far.

Spoiler: there are a lot of them. From falling into the ground to completely bizarre body physics, it seems like nothing in Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 5 works like it should. Activision says it is "aware" of the issues and is working with developer Robomodo to have them resolved. The publisher gave the following statement to IGN about the matter:

"We are aware of the issues that players have experienced following the launch of Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 5 and are working with the developer to address these so that we can continue to improve the gameplay experience for all of the Tony Hawk fans who have known and loved this franchise for more than 16 years."

It's a little hard to believe that Activision wasn't aware of the game's problems ahead of time. The game has a 7.7 GB patch that is nearly double the size of the game's disc install size. If that's not a warning sign, we're not sure what is. Not sending out early review copies is another telltale sign of Activision's complete lack of faith in the quality of its game.

Activision doesn't give a timetable for when the game's numerous problems will be addressed, but in the meantime, we can all enjoy the glitches while they last. Eurogamer did a great round-up of glitches from a 60-minute play session that is a must-see. It should be noted that these glitches occurred after downloading the massive day one patch, not before.

YouTuber NegativeCreep1986 also has a pretty humorous one.

Or this man from wEEman33, in which jumping outside the boundaries of the map respawns the player character underground.

The sad part is that this is just a small sampling. How a game can be so fundamentally broken out of the gate – so much so that even a 7 GB patch can't fix it – is more than a little disturbing. Hopefully Activision can deliver some answers while working to fix the game.
