Huawei was first reported to be working on the P9, the successor to the company's popular P8 device, back in May. The smartphone is expected to feature a fingerprint scanner, along with Huawei's own top-of-the-line Kirin 950 chipset to power the P9.

Leaked photos of the P9 by Steve Hemmerstoffer, more popularly known as prolific leaker @OnLeaks, show one more feature for the upcoming device, specifically that it will have a dual rear-camera setup.

The pictures show a pair of labels for the rear camera of the P9, with the colors of white and gold indicating that the device will come in these colors. In addition to a hole for the LED flash, the labels also have a cutout for what would most likely be for the sensor of a laser auto-focus feature, which will provide users with faster focusing time leading to better quality pictures. Lastly, the labels also come with the text LTE for the gold one and Delux for the white one, but there is currently no information regarding the meaning behind these names.

The more significant piece of information that can be taken away from the images is that there will be two cameras at the back of the P9, as represented by the two circular holes. It is expected that one of the cameras will be a 16MP one that will feature optical image stabilization.

Previous rumors regarding the P9 claim that the device will pack a 5.2-inch screen that will have a resolution of 1080 x 1920, for a pixel density of 424 pixels per inch. The previously mentioned Kirin 950 chipset is expected to be accompanied by four Cortex-A72 cores and another four Cortex-A57 cores, plus the Mali-T880 GPU for the smartphone's graphics. The P9 will also be powered by 4GB worth of RAM.

It should be noted that in benchmark tests, the Kirin 950 actually scored higher compared to Samsung's Exynos 7420, which the company used in its latest flagship Galaxy devices. This would mean that the P9 would definitely not be lacking in performance or speed.

The dual rear-camera setup is catching on among smartphone manufacturers, with the upcoming budget-friendly OnePlus X also having the same design. Reports also claim that Samsung will soon have such a setup on one of its smartphones, but probably not for the Galaxy S7.
