Many football fans woke up early Sunday (October 4) to watch the New York Jets-Miami Dolphins game live from London's Wembley Stadium.

The game proved to be a one-sided affair with Gang Green cruising to a 27-14 victory over the Dolphins and Miami announcing it has fired head coach Joe Philbin on Monday. But during the game, many viewers in the United States, tuning into CBS, noticed that the network had been digitally filling in the team logos in the end zones.

Why? Well, the grounds crew at Wembley Stadium didn't bother stamping the logos in the end zones, the way every NFL team does at every stadium back in the U.S. Wembley simply scribbled the teams' names. That left CBS with the idea to digitally fill in the end zones with the Jets' and Dolphins' logos. Good idea? Well, not quite.

Not only was the digital imposing blatantly obvious—as the Jets' logo got blasts of white ink and the Dolphins received its aqua green colors—but what was supposed to be a digital enhancement simply turned into a digital distraction, one that many viewers seemed to be irked about.

One website even captured CBS' digital end zone displays, which were even noticeable from its Skycam shots.

Here's an idea—considering that this Dolphins-Jets game is a rare London game, maybe CBS should have just broadcast the game without the logos in the end zones, the way Wembley Stadium had it. Fans understand that television rights are a huge deal and things need to go perfectly, but sometimes it's more difficult to try to trick viewers.
