Ahead of the upcoming showdown between Master Chief and Spartan Locke, the hunt for the truth hidden in Halo 5: Guardians is schedule for a pit stop at a NASCAR event.

Publisher Microsoft and developer 343 Industries have partnered with a pair of race crews to to pit Master Chief and Spartan Locke against one another at the Hollywood Casino 400 at the Kansas Speedway   on Oct. 18.

Jamie McMurray (No. 1), backed by Chip Ganassi Racing with Felix Sabates, will race around the speedway in a Spartan Locke-themed car. Meanwhile Dale Earnhardt Jr. (No. 88), backed by Hendrick Motorsports, will speed around in car dressed out with a Master Chief theme.

"I'm excited to welcome Halo 5: Guardians to the NASCAR audience," said McMurray. "I'll be running, and representing, the Spartan Locke paint scheme on our car at the Kansas Speedway and look forward to bringing the excitement of the game to the race track."

343 Industries' Kiki Wolfkill, head of the studio's Halo Interactive Entertainment and Channel, said the studio was excited to partner with Chip Ganassi Racing with Felix Sabates and Hendrick Motorsports on the venture.

"We have many NASCAR fans at the studio -- myself included - and we're excited to see both cars compete at Kansas Speedway," said Wolfkill.

Halo 5: Guardians launches on Oct. 6 for Xbox One. The game is billed as a hunt for the truth, with a "hunt vs the hunted" narrative. The game will culminate with an inevitable showdown between Spartan Locke and Master Chief, but the victor will be left in the hands of the player as Guardians will have multiple possible endings.

The game's campaign has 15 missions and is expected to last between eight to 12 hours. The campaign will support up to four player, drop in drop out cooperative play.

Guardians will launch with 21 multiplayer maps and eight playable characters. Multiplayer will offer 4 vs 4 Arena mode and 12 vs 12 Warzone.
