The iPhone 6s Plus and the new Microsoft Lumia 950 XL are undoubtedly among one of the best phablets announced this year. Let us see how the how the two big-sized smartphones stack up against each other.

Display and Screen

The Lumia 950 XL sports a 5.7-inch AMOLED display with 1,440 x 2,560 pixels resolution and 515ppi.

The iPhone 6s Plus has a 5.5-inch IPS LCD display and packs in less pixels with 1,920 x 1,080 pixels resolution and 401ppi.

Processor and RAM

A powerful octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 810 processor clocked at 2.0GHz powers the Lumia 950 XL.

A custom 1.8 GHz dual-core A9 processor powers the iPhone 6s Plus.

The Lumia handset has 3 GB of RAM while the Apple handset comes with 2 GB of RAM.


The Lumia 950 XL includes 32GB of on-board memory with the option to expand the storage capacity to up to 200GB with a microSD card.

The iPhone 6s Plus is available in 16GB, 64GB and 128GB models and users cannot expand the storage capacity as the iPhone lacks a microSD card slot.


A 3,340mAh battery fuels the Lumia 950 XL, which Microsoft claims can offer up to 300 hours of standby time and up to 19 hours of talk time.

Apple has not officially revealed the battery size of its iDevices. However, the company suggests the usage time of iPhones. Per Apple's website, iPhone 6s Plus users can get up to 24 hours of talk-time on 3G and up to 16 days of stand-by time.

Operating System

The iPhone 6s Plus comes running on Apple's latest iOS 9 operating system, while the Lumia 950 XL will run on Microsoft's brand new Windows 10 Mobile platform.


The Lumia 950 XL packs an advanced 20MP rear-facing camera and a 5MP front camera.

The iPhone 6s Plus is equipped with a 12MP iSight camera and a 5MP FaceTime camera. Although the iPhone 6s Plus has a smaller camera sensor its new Live Photo feature brings life to all images. Live Photos allow iPhone 6s Plus users to take still images, but also captures 1.5 second of video before the click and 1.5 second of video after the click.

Price and Availability

The iPhone 6s Plus has a starting price tag of $749 and is currently available via the physical Apple Store and other retailers in the U.S.

The Lumia 950 XL has a price tag of $649 and will be available starting November this year. The exact release date for the device remains unknown.

Both the Lumia 950 XL and the iPhone 6s Plus packs in top-end features to attract buyers who are looking for a high-end device. Customers who want to try the new Windows 10 Mobile OS and want the option of a microSD card slot may be inclined to purchase the Lumia 950 XL.

iPhone may attract to customers who want to experience the new camera capabilities like Live Photos and who are also willing to splash some extra cash.
