Nexus fans who have ordered the new Nexus 5X from the Google Store can rest easy about their purchase now, as Google has confirmed that the Nexus 5X will start shipping to its new owners beginning Oct. 22, Thursday.

Since Google made the Nexus 5X available for preorders on its online store immediately after unveiling, the smartphone's listing had always shown "shipping in the coming weeks." However, Google apparently now has stocks available for shipping, as the label has been changed to "will ship Oct. 22."

Customers who have preordered their Nexus 5X from the Google Store should check their order status to see if Google has updated the ship date for their device. While some customers say on Reddit that their preorders have been updated from "pending" to a delivery date of Oct. 23, other customers still have a delivery date of Oct. 28 to 30, although at least one Reddit user who contacted Google's customer support says he was promised a delivery date not later than Oct. 23.

Unfortunately for those who purchased the Nexus 5X in Frost (mint green), the ship date still remains unknown. For now, only customers who preordered the 16GB and 32GB Nexus 5X in Carbon (black) and Quartz (white) will be able to receive their orders beginning next week.

As for those who preordered the Nexus 6P, Google's ship date still remains at three to four weeks, so customers still have quite a while to wait before they can get hold of Google's new phablet.

The Nexus 5X and the Nexus 6P are expected to showcase all the new features and improvements in Google's Android 6.0 Marshmallow. While the Huawei-made Nexus 6P appears to have turned many heads with its humongous 5.7-inch Super AMOLED display and "aeronautic-grade" aluminum body, the Nexus 5X with a polycarbonate shell and a 5.2-inch Full HD display appears to be popular with users who prefer a smaller handset with a lighter price tag.

The Nexus 5X 16GB is available for $379, while the 32GB variant costs $429. Preorders made until Oct. 22 come with a free $50 credit on the Google Play Store and a 90-day premium pass to Google Play Music. Interested buyers who want to preorder a brand new Nexus 5X can still do so by visiting the Google Store until Oct. 22.
